Things to see and do
New city today Bussy-Saint-Georges is not least originally a charming old village which can still discover traces. His heritage, whether old or new, is still rich and interesting.
The current St. George church was built instead of the old medieval church. Completed in 1595, it was restored in the nineteenth century and the bell tower raised for current height of 32 meters. The talent of the artisans can appreciate them and other artists of the Renaissance with a simple but masterful nave. May especially admire a tombstone of the eighteenth century, a baptistery, or a beautiful stone holy water font. Another more recent church was built in 1997, the Church of Our Lady of the Valley, and its architecture contrasts with the old. Made of precast elements, it has a beautiful natural copper dome.
Bussy-Saint-Georges tower is the only remnant of the city's castle. This fortress, which dates back to the twelfth century, was the property of the lord of Buci. Today, with its 21 meters high, it is located on the Place de Verdun.
Walking through Bussy-Saint-Georges, one also discovers the Russon mill, a water mill, farm Roquemont, the wash of Mill Street, which dates from the mid-nineteenth century, or the farm Génitoy which is currently in full renovation. It is in the latter that Madame de Montespan would have given birth to a son of Louis XIV, Louis-César de Bourbon.
Known as the city of parks and gardens, Bussy-Saint-Georges has no less than 155 hectares of green space on its territory. Throughout the year, it is possible to walk in the park with his Génitoy pond Mysterious Island which is from the fireworks of July 13 or one of the other squares and the city of gardens. To all this is added 300 hectares of forest in which Ferrières have can practice walking or cycling, or the beautiful Val Sleeper pond with a surface of 12,000 m².
