KEWANEE – Diane M. Savage, 57, of Kewanee, died at 7:54 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2021 at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo following a courageous battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 27 at Saint John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Fr. Johndamaseni Zilimu. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 26 with recitation of the rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the HHH Foundation for the 3D Strong program. The family requests that all guests wear a mask for the safety of all those attending the visitation and funeral.

She was born May 20, 1964 in Kewanee, the daughter of Charles E. and Leona I. (Harding) Vandemore. She married Berkley Savage on July 20, 1984 in Kewanee. Survivors include her husband of Kewanee, two children, Addie (Kerry) Cortes and Nathan Savage, both of Kewanee, her five siblings; Linda (Steve) Pont of Kewanee, Dan (Ann) Vandemore of St. Louis, MO, Steve Vandemore of Godfrey, IL, Karen (Tim) VanDyke of Cambridge and Shari (Matt) Norhagen of Ankeny, IA, five grandchildren; Desmond and Camden Cortes and Isabella, Kiram and Sawyer Savage and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Diane graduated from Kewanee High School in 1982, from Western Illinois University with two Bachelor Degrees and from St. Xavier University with her Masters Degree. She had taught for the Annawan School District for over 25 years mainly in Language Arts. She was proud to be an Annawan Brave and was very active at the school where she had coached, was an FCA Advisor, assisted with the Drama and Speech Clubs and was a member of the PEO. She attended Saint John Paul II parish in Kewanee and was also a member of 3D Strong and the Kewanee Cancer Support Group.

She and her husband were devoted women’s college basketball fans, traveling all around to take in a game. Diane was an avid crafter and do-it-yourselfer and was a caring individual who was a mother figure to many.
