Can you make soap without lye?
Makinggoat milk soap from scratchis quite an involved process. It requires you to follow safety precautions and use many ingredients, such as lye, frozen milk, olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, castor oil, sweet almond oil, etc. The cold process soap maker will mix lye and oils/ fats to start a chemical reaction. What follows is the saponification process which eventually results in goat milk soap bars.
Luckily, there's a workaround to all this: melt and pour soap - hooray! It allows you to make homemade soap without the use of lye. It's rewarding and a lot of fun to make your own soap. The resulting soap is gentle on dry skin / itchy skin, soothing on sensitive skin, and can gently remove dead skin cells.
