What You Need For This Recipe

To make this quick naan recipe you need only a handful of ingredients. Some you will have in your kitchen pantry and refrigerator.

Ensure you have the following ingredients ready:

  • All-purpose flour: This is the main ingredient for this recipe. You can use plain flour or wheat flour but you can also use whole wheat flour. All-purpose flour gives you an elastic and pliable dough.
  • Greek Yogurt: In this recipe, I use 0% Greek yogurt but you can also use regular Greek yogurt or if you want a vegan naan, you can add plant-based yogurt which is dairy-free and vegan.
  • Baking powder: This ingredient helps to quick naan to puff up
  • Salt: This adds flavor to the naan bread.

Garnish

As garnish you need the following ingredients:

  • Butter: Melt the butter and combine it with garlic before you brush it on the naan.
  • Garlic: Mince the garlic before combining it with melted butter so you can brush it on.
  • Parsley: Chop the parsley and add to the melted butter mix to add some color.

How To Make Quick Naan

  1. Take a large bowl and first mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Then add the yogurt and mix this through the flour with a wooden spoon. You can also mix all the ingredients using a kitchen machine.
  2. Then knead the ingredients in the bowl until the dough comes together in a fairly sticky ball. If the dough is too sticky add a little more flour, about 1 tablespoon.
  3. If the dough is too dry add a bit more yogurt. Divide the dough into six equal pieces. Use a rolling pin dusted with flour.
  4. Roll each naan bread onto a floured cutting board to about 6” inches. Heat a skillet or frying pan without oil until it is hot. Cook each naan for a few minutes on each side.
  5. Bake until the bread is lightly golden, spots appear, and the bread puffs up.
  6. Melt the butter in the microwave or saucepan. Finely mince the garlic and stir it through the butter. Brush the naan with this butter mixture and stack it on a plate. Serve immediately.

For this recipe, no complicated naan dough recipe is required. I love two-ingredient dough because you get amazing results and it is so fast.

That is why I always have Greek yogurt in my fridge because you never know if you want to make some:

  • Pizza pockets
  • Naan bread
  • Flatbread
  • Pizza
  • Pretzels

You name it, if it has a bread dough base you can substitute it with two-ingredient dough. The same applies to this quick naan bread recipe.

Yes, you can make this naan ahead of time and store it, but as these are so quick to make, it is recommended to bake and eat them on the same day.

How To Store Naan

If you want to store naan bread, you can store them in two ways:

  • Fridge – let them cool completely and store them in a ziplock bag or an airtight container. You can keep them in the fridge for up to 4-5 days.
  • Freezer – also store them in a ziplock bag or airtight container. You can keep them for up to 2 to 3 months. You can also make the dough roll into a naan and freeze it without cooking. Put parchment paper between the naan. If you want to heat you do not need to thaw first but bake them in a skillet.

How To Warm Naan Bread?

If you make this quick naan recipe and you bake the bread you can preheat the oven to 350℉/175℃. Wrap the bread in foil and warm for about 8 minutes.

If the Naan bread is frozen, do not thaw it but bake it in a hot skillet.

If you love naan and want to put it on the table fast try this quick naan recipe. You can make naan bread in 15 minutes and it tastes amazing!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (plain flour)
  • ¾ cup plain yogurt (or dairy-free vegan yogurt)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Garnish
  • 2 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 garlic clove minced

Instructions

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together in a large bowl with a wooden spoon. Add the yogurt and mix together. Use your hands to bring it all together
  2. Knead the dough for a minute it comes together in a fairly sticky ball. Add a little more flour to make it manageable

  3. Divide it into six equal pieces. Using a rolling pin and roll each one piece of dough onto a floured cutting board to about 6” diameter
  4.
