Deadly Deception is the second book in the trilogy and secondary characters Frankie Douglas and Lane Hansen from Deadly Offerings are the protagonists in this story. The author provides enough of the back story from book one for readers to learn about the history between Frankie and Lane without necessarily having to read the first book in the trilogy. Of course the read is much more satisfying if you read all of the books in order.

Frankie and Lane have spent one passionate night together, but his actions toward Frankie afterwards lead her to believe she was just a one-night stand. However, six months later, Lane still can’t stop thinking about Frankie and wants to have a second chance with her. Unfortunately, Frankie is unwilling to forgive Lane and does her best to avoid him.

Frankie is a private investigator, and, with her military and police training, she proves she is more than capable of taking care of herself working in this field. Lane has recently made detective and when a young woman is found murdered, Lane becomes the lead detective in his first major case. His investigation leads him to suspect a corrupt adoption agency is involved in the murder. As a way to spend more time with Frankie, he talks her into going undercover with him as husband and wife to find the murderer.

While some aspects of the story are predictable, I found this easy to overlook because of the ongoing mystery and suspense that grabbed me from the beginning and didn’t let up until the end. I also liked that, unlike with some murder mysteries, the author spends time humanizing the victims, so readers can’t help but care about the outcome of their circ*mstances.

The sexual tension between Frankie and Lane really spices up the story, and even if Frankie can forgive Lane, their working together poses an obstacle, since workplace romances are heavily discouraged.
This mystery behind the murders does reach a resolution without a cliffhanger that carries over to the third book, but the author entices readers to continue with Deadly Relations, which features the story behind two characters that play a role in this second book.

A great book full of Romantic Suspense

I have to honestly say that I like Alexa's first book better, but I thrive on "who done it" books. Not to say that this is a bad book because it is a great read and I'll have to read her next one also...

Lane has been absent from Frankie's life for six long months and still can't get her out of his system so he comes up with a plan to include her in an op his is involved in.

Frankie doesn't want to trust Lane after what he pulled on her six months ago, but can she say no to solving the recent murders of young women and helping take down a baby trafficking ring? Even if it means forming a partnership and pretending she's married to Lane?

A few other problems come up with this partnership. Frankie is a P.I. and has a hard time conforming to police procedures. Frankie has a lot to contend with between staying in the police "guidelines", running from tornado's and keeping her hands off Lane. Then she finds out her niece is missing. Is her niece involved in with the adoption agency that's trafficking babies? And if so will she be able to save her before she ends up dead like the other girls?

Sexy alpha H, strong willed intelligent h some romance, drama, suspense and a bit of angst. Another good one with one to go. Each bk in this trilogy leaves off where the last one ends leaving the reader anxious for the next. Glad I waited until all 3 were released to make it a smooth transition. Side note - nice Hot guy covers to these bks. For fast paced romantic suspense, this series is entertaining.

When Detective Lane Hanson asks Private Investigator Frankie Douglas to help him on a case, she is very hesitant to accept. Their one night of passion six months ago ended with Lane leaving before daylight and never calling her again. But Frankie's uncle, Sheriff Tim Brennan, also wants her to work on this case and she agrees. Two young women have been found murdered. Both had given birth within days of their deaths and both had dealt with the Forever Homes Adoption Agency. As Frankie and Lane go undercover as a couple wishing to adopt, they uncover a doctor with a history of baby-trafficking and murder.

This story started out so much stronger than the first book in the series. The suspense story was attention-grabbing from the very first page. The romance was appealing. I liked Lane and Frankie having to pose as husband and wife. There was a lot of sexual tension.

But about halfway through the book this story lost steam. We knew up front who the villains were so there was no guess work for us. They sometimes seemed cartoonish in their villainy. Lane and Frankie were constantly running around interviewing people and looking for clues. There was a huge TSTL moment in the last few chapters that totally threw me out of the story. I just had to shake my head at the heroine’s stupidity. My rating: 3 Stars.

MY THOUGHTS:
DEADLY DECEPTIONS by Alexa Grace is a fast paced romantic suspense that will leave you spellbound from beginning to the last page. Book #2 in the “Deadly Trilogy”, but can be read as a stand alone. See, “Deadly Offerings”. Follow Frankie and Lane as they battle baby-trafficking, murder, their attraction, passion and trying to keep their personal relationship from their professional relationship apart. But their attraction and passion is way out of control. The plot is easy to follow. The characters are engaging and will capture your heart. Ms. Grace is a wonderful storyteller who draws the reader into the story. “Deadly Deceptions” will have you holding your breath from the first page to the last. An exciting tale of love,an old heartbreak and forgiveness. I am holding my breath until the next installment of “Deadly Trilogy” is released in the fall of 2012. A must read for anyone who enjoys romantic suspense, detective work, adoption and characters who never have a dull moment.Received for an honest review from the author. Details can be found at the author’s website,Createspace, and My Book Addiction and More.

Deadly Deception the second book in the deadly trilogy did not disappoint. The fast pace action and suspense kept me glue to the book. The relationship between Frankie and Lane was portrayed in a way that was completely believable, like some one you could know.

The suspense and the action was spot on! It is definitely a story that demands you continue turning the pages well past your normal bed-time ;-).

Highly recommend both Deadly Offerings and Deadly Deception to any one who enjoys a good thrill, suspense, with a great romance to bind it all together. Hot sex scenes doesn't hurt the books either!

Highly recommended!

After flying through the first book of this series, I was so eager to read this one. It definitely did not disappoint. Just when I thought that you could not top the first book, Frankie and Lane prove me wrong. I loved reading about this couple, especially after seeing them flirt through the entire first book. The story really piqued my interest. I found myself unable to put it down and eager to see what would happen to both of our strong minded heroes. I ended up finishing this book in a few hours. My only disappointment is that I must wait for the next book, especially now that we have been introduced to them! Definitely do not pass this one by!!

I consider book 2 of "The Deadly Trilogy" to be a must-read. Once I finished book 1, it was imperative to move on to the next of the three books. I especially loved the touches of humor in this book and the intensity of the building romance between Lane and Frankie.

This book touches on the problems encountered by young college girls who find themselves pregnant and fresh out of options. Alexa writes the story so well you feel the pain and anquish of the only choice that seems available...and deadly consequences if the mother changes her mind.

Alexa is gaining steam as one of the breakout authors of this year.

Ok I absolutely loved this book! I stayed up entirely to late last night finishing it! I loved Frankie's character she was funny, whitty, smart and loving also didn't take any crap rolled into one! She was great! Frankie and Lane's story had a way of holding your attention with breaking rules, babies sold, murder, attempted murder, people who will do anything to cover their tracks and of course the love! This is a must read book! I have now read the first two in series and can't wait to read more!

Wow! I read this book in one day! I wouldn't have put it down if it wasn't for some homework! This second book in the series flowed right from the first one. Lane and Frankie are perfect for each other and the way this book ends is great! I love the lead up to the third book.

This books had me wondering what was going to happen next and what will Frankie do?!?! I want a girl-friend like Frankie! She would be a fun person to hang out with! :)

I love the chemistry of the characters in this book. It's a complete love story murder mystery!

In Deadly Deception, the second book of Alexa Grace's Deadly Trilogy,
You enter the disturbing world of illegal adoptions, baby trafficking and murder with new detective Lane Hansen and private investigator Frankie Douglas.

I think that says it all.
It is fast pace full with action, and suspense, it was so good that I couldn't put it down. I read it in one setting.
Nice sexual tension between Lane and Frankie. I liked how they worked out the mistakes that was made with each other and how they learn to work together.
Looking forward to the last book in this trilogy.

I really love how Ms. Grace has written this series. I have totally fallen in love with the characters in this spectacular series and I love how I they are all prominently featured in each book. Get ready for spine-tingling suspense and sizzling romance as you inhale the pages of Deadly Deception!

I gushed over the romance part and still yet it was the other half of the genre...the suspense that kept me up reading late into the night!

I have to say that I liked this book better than the first. This book had more of a story line, rather than being focused on when Lane and Frankie would end up in bed. Let's face it we know they would. I like the different approach of the series not following 2 main characters, but rather letting the story evolve and letting the other characters come to life. Alexa seems to have hit this one on the head. I can't wait to read the next book and learning how Jennifer Brennan evolves.

Just finished the second in the Deadly Triology by Alexa Grace and once again she had me hooked from the first chapter. I enjoyed Frankie and Lane from the first book and this book was about their relationship. Fun fast read with enough suspense to keep the story line going.

Can't wait to read the next one.

I stumbled on this series with getting the first book free on my Kindle and I HAD to buy the other two. I couldn't wait to see what happened to Frankie and Lane. They were great in the first book. I don't know if I like romance or mystery more, but I know I love romantic mysteries best. This does not disappoint.

Another good book. I'm hooked on this series and can't wait for the next book. I love the characters & how the stories interlock the characters.

Book #2 is about Lane & Frankie and the big case that they take on trying to ignore the attraction for one another. That did not work for them.

Onto the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't to unbelievable and over the top. Everything flowed along nicely to me. 1scoop of drama + 2scoops of romance=a good read. I haven't read the first one and still was ok reading the second one by itself. Can't wait for the third.

This book was a whole lot better than the first. Better storyline, right amount of action, & better main characters. Some of the pregnant girls stories were touching. I was glad the doctor got what he deserved. This book was definitely worth buying.

The suspense angle was quite disturbing at times, with very ruthless villains.
